Join me at Three Bees Honey Shop as we do a autopsy of a dead out hive.
What is a dead out? It is a hive that collapsed over winter. There are various reasons this happens. Learn how to examine your hive for clues that you can learn from. Every mistake is an opportunity to learn.
We will review our notes from the 2025 season and see what we observe inside the hive and what we can learn from that.
We will take apart and inspect the hive and learn how to clean up and maintain a hive and prepare it for the next year.
Unfortunately losing hives is a regular part of keeping bees. The best we can do is to learn from it. There are many clues that can help is identify what went wrong. Learn what to look for when you lose a colony.
