Time & Location
Mar 05, 2023, 12:00 PM – Mar 06, 2023, 3:00 PM
Marengo, 217 S State St, Marengo, IL 60152, USA
About the event
Join me 12:00 - 3:00 pm at Three Bees Honey Shop as we do a autopsy of a dead out hive.
We will review our notes from the 2022 season and see what we observe inside the hive and what we can learn from that.
We will take apart and inspect the hive and learn how to clean up and maintain a hive and prepare it for the next year.
Unfortunately losing hives is a regular part of keeping bees. The best we can do is to learn from it. There are many clues that can help is identify what went wrong. Learn what to look for when you lose a colony.
Many new beekeepers lose bees and aren’t sure how to properly set a hive up afterwards in the second year; what to scrape and what to keep. We will review what’s next after a dead out as well.
This is a great class for first and second year beekeepers. $17 per person. No charge to previous students and Veterans. Class is limited to 10 people. Complimentary beverages will be served.
